Brisbane - Gympie - Hervey Bay

Today we start our motorhome tour to the north.
Before we can start, Jeremia has to unwrap his presents as it is his 9th birthday today!

Jonah and Josh have something to unwrap, too.

Our first stop is at the Gympie Historical Museum where we have been two years ago. Still the same great mix of gold mine and towns history museum.

Then we head on to todays destination, the Big4 Frazer Lodge campground in Hervey Bay. A nice clean and busy campground near the beachfront. We have a powered ensuite site next to our friends.

At first we have a BBQ.

And finally Jeremia has his birthday cake :)

Good night everyone...

Getting our Motorhome - and a day at school

This morning we all got up together. Andrew went to work, Adele takes me to the Britz hire station and goes to work afterwards.
The kids are having breakfast together.

After breakfast we bring Leo to day care and Joshua joins Kathleen for a day at school.

Michelton State is a public elementary school. Josh will join Kathleen for full day till 3pm. The school is divided into smaller buildings.

This is Kathleens classroom with an electronic white board. Josh enjoyed school pretty much. They had English lession, Music and Computer science in the computer room.

Back with the motorhome, we start getting everything on board. Tomorrow morning we will leave to our first campground around 300km away at Hervey Bay.

A Day in the Park

Brisbane has a lot of smaller and parks all over the city and the suburbs.
One of them is just across the road of our friends house.

The Leslie Patrick Park has some nice walks, a rugby fields and a very nice playground. Playgrounds over here already impressed us two years ago. Very clean, brand new rides and slides. Fun for the kids.
Tomorrow we will get the camper van.

1st day in Brisbane

After a 28 hours trip with economy class seats and very few sleep, we enjoyes a relaxing night in bed.

This morning I went for a 3km walk through a nice neighbourhood to the Creekside shopping mall.

I obtained a prepaid SIM card for my iPad. The Telstra plan includes 3GB of data volume for 30 AUD. After 1hour the activation was finished and this time everything worked fine just from the start.
Meanwhile the kids enjoyed playing with Leos toy cars.

On our Way to Australia!

On Saturday morning we took the train from Duesseldorf to Frankfurt. In Frankfurt we checked in with Singapore Airlines.

From Frankfurt to Singapore we travelled on an A380 in Economy Class rows 34 and 35.

Seats were pretty comfortable (as much as you can expect from economy class) but the food was not at all up to earlier SIA standards. I had Kung po chicken and fied noodles with Chinese greens.
The kids had the kids menues which Joshua enjoyed mostly.

At Singapore we had a short 3hours stop over whithout much walking as we could stay in the same terminal.

The second leg of the trip was on a A330.
Without much delay we arrived in Brisbane around 19:40
Immigration and customs was quite quick and a short while later we were picked up by Adele, Andrew, Kathleen and Leo.

Less then 2 weeks to go...

In less than 2 weeks we will be off to Australia!
Preparation has started. Again, one of my concerns is web access. I tried to reactivate my Telstra PrePaid SIM to avoid going through the same hassle as 2 years ago. But unfortunately prepaid cards expire when not beeing used for more than 6 month. So one of my first activities will - again be to visit a Telstra retailer :(
